Thomas is a trademark attorney with a practical, hands-on approach and wide-ranging expertise. Equally adept at trademark, copyright and design rights work, he advises a variety of clients at different stages of their evolution, helping them to protect and exploit their assets. This has included assisting startups with protecting their emerging brands, through to advising large companies on getting the most from their global portfolios. His extensive experience in the Benelux market, coupled with his international mindset, enable him to add considerable value.

Thomas’s industry experience is wide-ranging too, spanning from chemicals, agriculture, and food and drink, to software and education. Whatever the work, however, Thomas brings the same enthusiastic, responsive approach to the table, providing pragmatic advice in a timely and constructive manner. Clients particularly appreciate his strategic understanding – as he says, “the satisfaction of helping clients to reach their full potential by securing their assets around the world is what drew me to this job.” He has already demonstrated this strategic acumen in several significant matters, working as part of a team to coordinate the enforcement of a global restaurant chain’s trademarks in the European continent,  for example, and successfully assisting a major brewery whose marks were under attack globally.

Before joining Leeway, Thomas spent over three years at Gevers, a large IP firm with offices across Belgium and France. Prior to this, he was employed as a trainee trademark examiner at the EUIPO in Alicante, gaining valuable knowledge of the European Union trademark system from the authorities’ perspective. An enthusiastic traveller, he has also spent time working or studying in Portugal and the US.
